Every artist
is asked where does she get her ideas or where does her
inspiration
come from. I get my inspiration from my childhood memories of
the ancient
city of Jerusalem, my travels around the world, and my daily life
in
the majestic Arizona desert surrounded by formidable mountains.
I create tension in the composition by incorporating
contrasts in my designs.
I combine organic forms with geometric ones.
I use traditional shapes side
by side with contemporary ones. I employ
vibrant colors to metal work and
add rich texture to smooth surface.
The painterly quality is a thread that manifests itself through this body
of
work. The texture on the metal is a reference to the texture on the
Jerusalem rock, which is so predominant in the architecture of Jerusalem.
I am interested in the process of making the jewelry as much as I enjoy
the
final results.
My work represents old traditions in a contemporary
look. The jewelry I
create is classic, timeless and elegant in style.
Each piece of jewelry I design reflects my innermost
thoughts, feelings and
ideas. It represents memories, knowledge, skills
and values absorbed and
developed over the years.
